WHAT HELPS US TO COPE

  1. God's promise to never leave or forsake us (Heb.3:5,6;1 Chron. 28:20)

  2. By keeping our eyes on the goal of heaven (Col.3:1-4; Heb.11:8-16; Rev. 7, 21, 22)

  3. By understanding how pearls are made: through friction and tribulation (Rev. 21:21)


  4. The knowledge and confidence in knowing God delivers us not from persecution, but delivers us through it (Rev. 7:13-14; 2 Tim. 3:12; Matt. 5:10-12; Acts 14:22)


  5. By remembering that God loves us (1 Jn. 3:1; 4:7-19; Jn. 3:16-17; Eph. 3:14-19)


  6. A sense of humor - a cheerful happy outlook on life - rejoicing in our hearts (Jn. 15:11, 10:10; Philp. 4:4; Rom. 12:12; 1 Thess. 5:16,18; Prov. 15:13,15, 17:22)


  7. Realize we have a living hope to latch on to (Heb.6:19; 1 Pet. 1:3-13; Rom. 8:24-25)


  8. We can endure by remembering Job, Paul, and Jesus (Job 2:10; 42:12; 2 Cor. 12:5-11; 4:8-10;  Acts 9:15-16; 2 Cor. 11:23-30; Heb. 12:2-3; Jas. 5:11; 1 Pet. 2:21-24)


  9. By knowing that God will provide us with a way of escape (1 Cor. 10:13)


10. Through prayer we can obtain wisdom and strength to cope with life's trials (Jas. 5:13; 1 Thess. 5:17-18; Lk. 18:1; Ps. 55:17; Col 4:2)


11. By understanding, at best, life is short in view of eternity.  And, we only have to live one day at a time (2 Cor. 4:17; Jas. 4:14; Rom. 8:18)


12. The help and encouragement from our Christian friends and family (Eccl. 4:9-10, 12) and Jesus, our dearest friend (Mk. 5:19)


13. By understanding why we are here - to glorify God! (1 Pet. 4:11, 16; Rev. 4:11; Ps. 51:15; Jude 24-25; Isa. 43:7; Matt. 5:16; 1 Cor. 6:19-20)


14. Start counting our blessings, naming them one by one (Ps 84:11; Jas. 1:17; 2 Pet. 1:2-3)


15.By grasping that we acquire patience when we overcome tests and trials that come our way (Jas. 1:2-3; Rom. 5:3; Heb. 12:1)


16. Through our suffering, we can be joint-heirs with Christ (Rom. 8:16-18; Gal. 4:7)


17. By getting in tune with nature, God's natural creation (Ps. 19:1-6, 124:7-8; Lk. 12:22-32)


18. By knowing God is a righteous judge who will bring justice and divine vengeance on the unrighteous (Deut. 32:35; Heb. 10:30; 12:29; Rom. 12:19)


19. When we realize that some affliction helps us grow stronger spiritually  and can make us better people (1 Pet. 2:19-21; Ps. 119:67, 71)


20. By keeping a positive attitude that we can and will make it (1 Pet. 4:12-13; Heb. 3:14; Matt. 24:13; 2 Tim. 2:10)


21. Meditating on God and His word (Ps. 145:5; 119:48; 1:1-2; 119:97; 49:3; 1 Tim. 4:15)


22. Thinking on things that are noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report (Phil. 4:8)


23. By knowing that God is our strength and redeemer (Ps.33:8; 89:7; 19:14; 84:5)


24. Develop a deep trust in God (Ps. 62:8; 18:1-3; 84:12; Prov. 3:5-6; Job 13:15)


25. By being busy in the Lord's work (1 Chron. 29:5 KJV; Lk. 19:10)


26. Rev. 12:11 gives us the three-fold way to defeat Satan: 1. The blood of Christ (be in Christ- Gal. 3:27; Rom. 6:3), 2. The Word of God (requires diligent study- 2 Tim. 2:15), and 3. The willingness to die for the Lord (sacrificial living- 1 Cor. 15:31)
